"Conquering any difficulty always gives one a secret joy, for it means pushing back a boundary-line and adding to ones liberty."
~ Henri Frédéric Amiel

A series of compassionate and non-judgmental audio healing cd's

created by Terra Wise, midwife for the soul.

This healing program will respectfully attend to your post-abortion concerns through a remarkable exploration of transformative ideas, healing practices, and powerful meditations... plus it will provide helpful support for other forms of loss/womb loss too.

'For some people an abortion seems to be much like a large wheel, the experience itself sits at the hub, the center of the wheel with its many connected spokes going out into all life directions. The associated events and emotions emerging out of the center of the wheel can include many tender issues and conflicting feelings, often present at the same time'.

This compassionate healing program created and presented by Terra Wise, midwife for the soul, gives a much needed voice to the complex and taboo subject of abortion, a topic that has been cloaked in secrecy and stigma for far too long. For twenty years Terra has worked with groups and private clients in her practice of cross-culturally informed transpersonal counseling, integration, and embodied practices. Her gentle work with women includes the important focus on the issues of womb loss and abortion concerns. This presentation will guide you from distress to peace while working with the practices, ideas, and discussions you will find here -- suitable for anyone (women, couples, men) who sincerely desire to attend to their post-abortion feelings with respect and in safety no matter age, politics, religions, or how long it has been since an abortion(s). This entire program is a powerful journey, an exploration of new ideas and healing perspectives that unfold like a ritual of healing integration. It takes tremendous courage to explore these sensitive issues, to come out of the abortion closet as it were, to be willing to open to your inner growth like a flower that opens to the sun... trust that it is the right time in your life to do so now. The right time to seek peace and balance!

I want to acknowledge that there are of course many women who feel perfectly fine following an abortion and who continue to feel at peace ever after... However in my practice of twenty years in Canada and the United States I encountered woman after woman who sat in front of me and described through tears her post-abortion feelings of sadness, shame, and other concerns, including lamenting the loss of a potential... women who wanted to reflect on their post-abortion feelings within a safe and unbiased environment.

Across North America there are clinics and doctors who provide legal and medically safe abortions, and even in countries where abortion is illegal there are brave doctors who make this service available. But, I also recognized that a powerful void was clearly evident by seeing firsthand how women's post-abortion concerns were closeted away behind hushed whispers, shame, and stigma. And so I began to reflect upon these concerns, and the consequences of this taboo secret confronting many women...

  1. What happens to a woman after she has had a surgical or medical abortion and leaves the clinic? What happens for her personally and interpersonally in the days, months, years, and decades after her abortion?

  2. Where does she go to find comfort, counseling and emotional sharing from a non-dogmatic and caring ally?

  3. Who helps this woman explore the powerful and overlapping feelings she may have, often all interconnected at the same time; the emotional, spiritual, physical, sexual, and relational concerns that can follow her abortion?

  4. Who does she confide in, cry with, create healing ritual with, and tell her story to, without fear of condemnation?

  5. How does she honor and integrate such a powerful life-threshold that is certainly one of the many threads woven within the tapestry of women's blood mysteries?

  6. How can she be respectfully guided through this tremendously important life transition?

  7. What are the symbolic, mythic, and transpersonal implications of an experience that is shared by countless women from ancient times through today, in all parts of the world?

There is no denying that an abortion is a significant part of a woman's life and can become an integral part of her maturation process, and that her feelings about it will go through changes as the years pass by, is also a normal response as well.
